Every October, the world, and specifically Chicago, supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink ribbons fly everywhere, drawing attention to the many thousands of lives that have been (or will be) affected by breast cancer.

This support is very much needed. The National Cancer Institute estimates about 321,910 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2026. About  2,760 men will also be diagnosed.

Throughout the month, Chicago’s benevolent restaurant community gathers together to support local organizations dedicated to the prevention, treatment and education around the disease.

Why? Because, as the World Health Organization (WHO) declares, “Every story is unique, every journey matters.”

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dean’s Team Chicago has compiled a list of Chicago restaurants raising funds this month to support local organizations. Some of these restaurants include:

Beatrix:  Available at all locations throughout October, $1 from every raspberry-flavored Pink on The River Cookie will be donated to The Pink Agenda and $1 from every Pink Ribbon Cookie sold will be donated to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation.

Another River North hotspot, TAO Chicago, 632 N. Dearborn Street, will donate 10% of sales of select menu items to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Walk.  The two-tier fine dining restaurant/nightclub doesn’t specify which items benefit the charity, so ask your server.  Could it be the Barbecued Duck Fried Rice, with sundried tomatoes, kaffir lime, and mint? Or maybe, the Drunken Lobster Pad Thaiwithbrandy andcashews? Again, ask your server!
