THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – CHICAGO HEATS-UP WITH ABUNDANCE OF WEEKEND EVENTS!

You know things are starting to heat-up around Chicago when weekend events are in abundance and you can’t fit them all into your schedule!

Over 5000 citizens police officers families of fallen officers and supporters of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation will be taking it to Chicago’s lakefront at the 11th annual Run to Remember this Saturday (8:00 a.m.) at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr. – just east of Soldier Field) in the South Loop. Participants can choose between a 5K USATF certified chip-timed run or a non-competitive 5K walk. This event also features a junior jog appearances by the K-9 the CPD Mounted and Helicopter units along with performances by the Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society as well as a family-friendly after party and children’s activities!

The Chicago Kids and Kites Festival returns to Cricket Hill (Lake Shore Dr. and Montrose Ave.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for its 15th annual fun-filled family event! You can bring your own kite or make one from a kit on-site provided by the City of Chicago while supplies last. Other activities for the day include balloon artists face painting crafts The Big Kite Candy Drop (weather permitting) snacks and professional kite flyers demonstrating their skills with uniquely-shaped and oversized kites. Up Up and Away!!

In honor of the first democratic constitution in Europe and second in the world only to the U.S. Constitution the Polish Constitution Day Parade takes place this Saturday (11:30 a.m.) on its new route along Dearborn Street from Lake to Van Buren Streets in The Loop. Thousands of people gather every year to show their devotion to Polonia and Poland as Polish values traditions history and culture are presented by the participants of the biggest Polish Parade outside of Poland!

Not to leave out the other four-legged family members the 6th Annual Kitten Shower will be held this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Chicago Party Animals (1133 W. Fulton Market St.) in the West Town neighborhood and hosted by Tree House. This event features an opportunity to play kitten shower games add a kitten name to their suggestion box enjoy a donation bar with “meow-mosas” and more munch on desserts light snacks and/or fruit and win fun prizes all while spending time with Tree House’s adorable kittens! They’re also seeking donations of much-needed kitten supplies!!

Is anyone up for a night run? You’re in luck because The Glo Run – Safari 2015 takes place this Saturday (8:30 p.m.) at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr.) in the South Loop. The course is adorned with black lights vibrant lasers and a rainbow of lighting effects that bring this night run to life not to mention the fact that the participants will be decked out in glow in the dark shirts and glo swags! The course also includes on-course DJ’s and a water station with the best finish line party ever!!

Unable to attend the actual Kentucky Derby this year? Well here’s the rundown of Chicago’s Kentucky Derby Parties taking place at various establishments throughout the City.

Finally this Saturday wraps-up the 2015 NFL Draft held here in Chicago with Rounds 4-7 which began this past Thursday at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 E. Congress Pkwy.) in The Loop and where fans will have the opportunity to take photos onstage. Draft Town held in Grant Park (337 E. Randolph St.) will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. featuring interactive elements flag football competitions concessions player appearances/autograph signings and much more culminating with a free concert to close out the Draft Town festivities featuring Phillip Phillips JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound and Marc Scibilia!!
