Let the countdown begin! Christmas is now 2½ weeks away which still gives us plenty of time to shop and get in some Holiday fun – the Chicago way!!

The Santa Hustle 5K returns again this year to Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Drive) in the South Loop neighborhood on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Thousands of Santas will be hitting Chicago streets at this 5th annual event where every participant receives before the race a free newly-designed customized Santa long sleeve tee a Santa beard a Santa hat and a goody bag all to raise money for a local charity. Not only will awards be given out to the top three finishers in certain categories from the 5K but also for Best Group Santa Costumes and Best Individual Santa Costume. And if that weren’t enough a large post-race party will be held at Navy Pier with all bars opening at 10:00 a.m. for the Santa runners. Don’t forget to bring your race bib for some awesome food and drink specials!

Navy Pier Holiday Events (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood is offering the following events for your Holiday enjoyment –

Snowglobe Live! (through January 12th): The Family Pavilion invites you to step inside their 15-foot tall life-sized snow globe (max 6 persons) for an opportunity to play and pose for a photo souvenir set in a winter wonderland for a unique memorable holiday experience. Photo times are Sundays-Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays & Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Christmas Tree Ship Arrives (this weekend): The Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw re-enacts a Chicago tradition from the late 1800s when Christmas trees were delivered port side. About 1200 Christmas trees were delivered this morning at 8:30 a.m.; however you can tour the ship from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. this Saturday.

Winter Wonderfest (through January 12th): Enjoy various holiday-themed family-friendly activities at this 13th annual wonderfest held in Festival Hall (daily at 10:00 a.m.) which features a 170000 square foot winter playground that includes amusement rides huge inflatable slides crafts zip-lining live entertainment an indoor ice skating rink and much more!

Visit with Santa Claus (through December 24th): Inside Winter Wonderfest at the giant decorated tree kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at their home and have their picture taken by professional photographers to capture their visit. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available Mondays-Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays-Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.!

Polar Adventure Days returns to Northerly Island (1521 S. Linn White Drive) on the Near South Side this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for its 9th annual day of family-friendly winter activities that include dog sledding demonstrations with huskies an REI winter activity station visits from wildlife animals arts & crafts a toddler zone featuring outdoor ice fishing; free hot cocoa to the first 500 participants and much more! But remember to dress accordingly since events are held both outdoors and indoors!!

I know you’ve all been waiting for this one! The Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl begins at Fatpour Tap Works (2005 W. Division Street) in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. at either Moonshine or 50/50. Don’t forget to wear your most awful ugliest bedazzled clashy holiday sweater or vest as Best Costume prizes will be awarded at Boundary at 2:45 p.m. But wait there’s more! A free UberX promo code via email good for a $20 credit will be given to everyone attending this year’s crawl so they can get home safely! And it’s all for a good cause as proceeds will go towards purchasing items for The Christmas Store that serves the William H. Brown School of Technology and Nathaniel Dett Elementary school!!
