TECHNOLOGY NEWS – AMAZON PRIME MAY BE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN YOU THINK

I can’t believe I’m saying this but the holidays are coming and it’s time to start doing your research online. One thing of particular note is that Amazon has upped the cost for free shipping. When you purchase from the online retailer you’ll now have to spend at least $35 before you qualify. The minimum price of $25 has been in effect for the past decade.

When asked about the increase Amazon had no real comment. One reason may well be the push for consumers to use Amazon Prime. The Prime service is $79 per year. As part of the service you get two-day shipping for free and unlimited use. You can also stream over 40000 movies and TV shows.

This positions Amazon Prime as a new contender with Hulu and Netflix. Time has yet to tell how this will impact things but Amazon is expanding its streaming with MGM.
