THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – TERROR REIGNS… LET THE HAUNTINGS BEGIN!

It’s a good thing I looked at a calendar because Halloween is just two weeks away! And as we here in Chicago prepare and gather our costumes for an afternoon and evening of trick-or-treating on the Big Day I’m told that terror reigns this weekend so let the hauntings begin!!

“Watch Your Back” at this popular haunted house 13 Terrors located at the Theater on the Lake (2401 North Lake Shore Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Now in its third year this haunted house takes place in a former sanitarium that sits feet away from the waters of Lake Michigan. BEWARE as you’ll be greeted by crazed creatures ghostly goblins deadly ghouls and even confronted by evil clowns. But be very careful not to get turned around in the mirror maze or thrown off balance in the spinning vortex as you may not be leaving anytime soon!

The award-winning The Fear Haunted House returns to Navy Pier (600 East Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood on Saturday (7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) and Sunday (7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) for an evening spent with a captain who has traveled the globe and captured the most feared creatures known to man as you join his dark crew and walk through a twisted cage of pain that houses creepy prisoners a clown vampire werewolf monsters and zombies all clawing for their freedom to get their revenge! Although you may survive this adventure by finding The Fear before it finds YOU!! Also for those who don’t have the “heart for horror” you’ll be able to enjoy a “lights on” version from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the low scare.

The annual H. H. Holmes-themed haunted house Screams in the Park is located in the basement level of the parking garage at MB Financial Park at Rosemont (5501 Park Place) in Rosemont (suburb west of the City near O’Hare Airport) on Saturday (8:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.) and Sunday (7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.). You can also double your fright this Saturday and next (October 26th) at the Haunted House Double Feature (Muvico Theaters). This Saturday’s features are “Fright Night” (9:00 p.m.) and “The Monkey’s Paw” (11:15 p.m.) while next Saturday’s features are “An American Werewolf in London” (9:00 p.m.) and “The Monkey’s Paw” (11:15 p.m.). Some pretty frightening stuff happening out in Rosemont!

Taking the terror level down a notch Seadog Haunted Tours offers a Halloween-themed cruise for all-ages departing from Navy Pier (600 East Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:15 p.m. with additional tours departing every Saturday in October at 8:15 p.m. This cruise features night time views of the skyline while exploring the many sins and scandals of infamous figures and yes spirits (spine tingling tales of supernatural occurrences) of Chicago from costumed tour guides!

Join Corn Productions as they celebrate the genre of B Horror Movies which they know so well at this year’s Nightmares on Lincoln Ave 5: B is for Blood at The Cornservatory (4210 N. Lincoln Avenue) in the North Center neighborhood on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. through October 31st. Monsters weather and toxic waste combine with gory stories for a terrifying hysterical evening!

Now for the complete terror-less event the Chicago Monster Dash takes place this Sunday (8:00 a.m.) at Grant Park (337 East Randolph Street) in The Loop for a Half Marathon (timed) 10K Race (timed) or Monster Dash 5K and features a complimentary hoodie. One of the most fun parts of this event is the costumes that the runners wear during their race. Some of them are pretty darn creative and will be judged from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on race morning in Race Village near the music stage for a chance to be one of the top three winners in the Adult Individual Male and Female categories the Individual Girl and Boy (12 and under) categories the Couple and Group categories at this year’s Costume Contest!

Happy Hauntings On This Terror-Reigned Weekend! Or Are You A Scaredy Cat?
