KATHY’S HOME & GARDEN TIPS – INEXPENSIVE DECORATING FOR FALL

One of the easiest fall updates is pillows and throws. Choose fall colors like burgundy gold red and orange. Family will appreciate a warm afghan or throw to cuddle under at movie night.

Check out your favorite craft store they have a huge selection of silk fall foliage. Fill a large vase with red maple branches. Scatter gold and russet silk leaves around picture frames and shelves. Attach leaves to fishing line and hang from the dining light fixture no need for a centerpiece to block views. Put pheasant feathers in a short wide vase. Line up three or more down the length of the table and scatter pine cones in between.

Mini pumpkins are great for decorating they come in different sizes. Throw several in a bowl white and orange for a quick centerpiece. There are white pumpkins also known as ghost pumpkins great for decorating. Arrange different sized ones on cheesecloth for an all white effect.

There are many squash varieties available today. Many interesting shapes and sizes can be used in arrangements along with pumpkins and moss. Gourds too come in many colors sizes and interesting shapes. Use in arrangements or just scatter around a few here and there.

LED lights are great to use instead of dangerous candles. They work well in pumpkins outside. Inside put in mason jars with cinnamon sticks or star anise. Put them in your ghost pumpkin arrangement along with some small skulls and artificial spider webs for a scary effect.
