PORTAGE PARK
To honor Native Americans who traveled through what is now Six Corners (the intersection of Irving Park Road and Cicero and Milwaukee avenues) a 10-foot-by-6-foot aluminum sculpture by Ted Sitting Crow Garner was unveiled this week. “Portage” depicts an abstract figure swinging a canoe on to its back and tells the story of the Native Americans who traveled through the area to survive. The sculpture was unveiled as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Sears store which was once drew shoppers from all over the city and suburbs.

LINCOLN PARK

LINCOLN SQUARE
Lincoln Square is hosting Halloween ComicFest on October 26-27 and during the event Dark Tower Comics will give away 22 Halloween themed comics and mini comics. The titles of the comics include Batman Spider-Man Thor Adventure Time Archie Sonic and many more that comic fans of all ages will enjoy. You can also enter to win $500 in merchandise by submitting a photo of yourself in costume.

EVANSTON
Are you creative? Does a glass of wine make you a better artist? You can find out at the brand new Evanston location of Bottle & Bottega. Owner Lynette Martin it is about bringing out the creative side in everyone – regardless of skill – through art and wine gatherings. An artist will help the group select an image and work with everyone individually to create your own Monet. Studio is located at 1016 Davis St. and there are public classes as well as private events.
