LINCOLN PARK

Construction has begun on a new restaurant called Fairways at 1141 W Armitage. Taking a very unique approach the owners have said it will be both a local food-focused restaurant and a virtual golfing destination. On track to open this coming July Fairways will offer contemporary American fare with some organic options emphasizing meals not typical to the bar scene. Upstairs they are building an area with a "private feel" to house their high-end virtual golf simulators but it will be reservation based so make sure to plan ahead!
In a recent newsletter entitled "Armitage is Back!" 43rd Ward Ald. Michele Smith said "(these) new restaurants coming this summer and fall prove once again that Lincoln Park is the premier community in which to live work and shop."

WEST LOOP

If you haven’t had an opportunity to visit the Chicago French Market yet this weekend is a cute time to visit. Between 11am – 2pm on Saturday March 23 they are hosting their free "Hop the Bunny Train" event where visitors can take a ride in a small train around the market followed by an Easter Egg Hunt starting at 1:30pm featuring a very special guest the Easter Bunny!
Chicago French Market is a European-inspired marketplace formed in the movement to support local farmers and artisans year-round. There are almost 30 individual specialty vendors offering fresh ingredients grab-and-go options light snacks easy party planning meaningful gift ideas and more.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Next week tickets go on sale for the ever popular spring Wine Stroll through the streets of Lincoln Square. Participants meander through one of 3 different business districts sampling great seasonal wines paired with hors d’oeuvres at different local businesses. This event is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends while becoming more familiar with what the neighborhood has to offer. The price for the event ranges from $40 for one route $60 for all routes if you pay in advance or $50 at the door for one route if it isn’t sold out. The date is Thursday April 25th from 6:30 – 9:30pm.

NAPERVILLE

In order to catch a high-quality show or entertainment no longer do Naperville residents have to make the 40-mile trek into Chicago. Local venues are thriving with activity and performances. One of these is the Paramount Theatre in the heart of downtown Aurora. Over 80 years old this old Art Deco movie house has arguably never looked better. In a risky move the theater took a chance to produce brand-name musicals in house and it has been a critical and commercial success! Currently running Fiddler on the Roof there will be a brief break for a couple nights next month to bring in the long-running percussion hit Stomp on April 13-14. Never has high-end local theater been so accessible and of such quality. Plan your next fancy night out now and don’t worry about a long commute.
