TECHNOLOGY TIPS – TABLETS ARE ALIVE AND COMPETITIVE

The world of the ever-changing tablet market has taken some interesting turns lately. Apple initially owned and dominated the market but competition began cropping up especially from Amazon and their Kindle evolution from just an e-reader to tablets. Barnes & Noble entered their version with the Nook line but it appears the picture is not so rosy for their future.

On the flip side of that coin Samsung Electronics the South Korean giant has just announced their amazing looking Galaxy Note 8.0 an 8-inch Android tablet coming out in the second quarter of 2013 which is intended to directly compete with the new Apple iPad Mini. Unlike the iPad Mini it will include a stylus is capable of showing multiple apps at one time includes an IR remote (meaning it can function as a high-end remote controller for most televisions) and it is rumored that some versions may also include phone capabilities.

According to the research firm Canalys the 2012 holiday season saw Apple sell 22.9 million iPads Amazon at 4.6 million and Samsung climbing up to 7.6 million. This year has the potential to see some shifts happen but one thing is for certain those numbers will all be increasing as the tablet is here to stay.
