THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – WHAT A CHICAGO LINE-UP FOR FATHER’S DAY!

It’s Dad’s turn!

As you may or may not know this Sunday is Father’s Day and what a Chicago line-up the city has for you to spend some quality time with your Dad whether it’s on Saturday or Sunday or even all weekend long! And for those of us who no longer have our Dads with us physically this line-up will sure bring you a good time as well!!

The 6 Corners BBQ Fest is back for a delicious weekend following a very successful debut last summer at Six Corners (4000-4080 N. Milwaukee Avenue at Irving Park Road and Cicero Avenue) in the Portage Park neighborhood. Grills will be fired up by some of Chicago’s best BBQ restaurants dishing out ribs chicken burgers hot dogs and more! This saucy fest also features a kids’ corner with inflatables a marketplace live music performances demos and more. Don’t miss the neighborhood cooking contest on Sunday starting at 8:00 a.m. This fest definitely has Dad and the family covered with food music and lots of fun!!

The Taste of Randolph takes place on Saturday (12:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) at 900-1200 West Randolph Street from Peoria Street to Racine Avenue in the West Loop neighborhood. This annual food fest is for people of all ages to sample some of Chicago’s best food on one of the city’s bustling restaurant streets. Also featured are vendors who will be selling their eclectic and hand crafted goods live entertainment cooking demos and more. Don’t forget to join the 104.3 K-HITS crew who will be giving away prizes which include t-shirts movie passes and other fun items! You won’t be disappointed at this street festival!!

The Chicago Pizza Fest is back after a three-year hiatus and returns to a new location at Wilson Avenue and Broadway Street in the Uptown neighborhood on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Along with thin thick and gourmet pizzas being sold by the slice or as a whole pie this 3rd annual fest also features plenty of live music arts and craft vendors and a chance to vote for your favorite slice of pizza! Simply Yummy!!

The Lincoln Park Greek Fest takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at 2701 N. Sheffield Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. This fest features homemade food and pastries live Greek music live local bands Greek dance performances children activities shopping free wine tastings and more! Come and experience the aromas tastes sounds and traditions of our Greek community – OPA!!

The city of Evanston as well as the surrounding North Shore communities will be celebrating the 41st annual Custer’s Last Stand this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Main Street and Chicago Avenue in Evanston. This largest and oldest outdoor event has become famous throughout the Midwest for its diverse and unique features which includes a wide variety of live music top-quality food by area restaurants children activities antiques and high quality arts and crafts for your shopping pleasure and an authentic North American Indian Pow-Wow! Quality and Diversity about sums it up for Custer’s Last Stand!!

The Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Road) in Glencoe a North Shore neighbor of Chicago will be offering a Father’s Day Canoe Adventure on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the outdoor-type Dads. Paddle along with Bob Kirschner the Chicago Botanic Garden’s aquatic biologist as he explains the Garden’s recognized program to restore and enhance its miles of lakeshore. Lookout you may be greeted by ducks herons small fish turtles and/or frogs as you explore their watery habitat! Your journey will also take you beneath the Garden’s new Trellis Bridge!!

Finally the Puerto Rican Parade takes place Saturday (Noon) at Columbus Drive from Balbo Avenue to Monroe Street in The Loop. This annual parade brings families together to celebrate Puerto Rican culture as the parade once again features a procession of floats reggaeton music and folk and salsa dancers!
