LOOP

Eggy’s a reimagining of a classic Chicago diner is open near Millennium Park. It’s nestled in Lakeshore East. You’ll have a marvelous view of the morning sun glinting off the Aqua building. It comes by way of the folks behind Custom House Tavern. Despite such prestige this diner does exactly what you need a diner to do: fill you with hot coffee and french toast on Sunday morning. Or assemble visiting relatives here for cinnamon pecan sticky buns and fried Wisconsin cheese curds before sending them off to conquer Navy Pier with their trusty Segway guide.

GOLD COAST

Volare is now reopened after a massive five-week face lift. You’ll find a place that’s doubled in size and is painted the color of the Tuscan sun. There’s a second dining room in back with a small but the bigger news pertains to pizza. They now have it. So think of this as a good after-work spot when you want to blow off steam with a beer and something topped with prosciutto. But if that prosciutto and beer leads to linguini with clams a juicy steak and a bottle of chianti you’ll be set.
