Kathy’s Home & Garden Tips – Middle Summer Garden and Lawn

July 4th marks the middle of summer. Most places in the country are experiencing warm temperatures with varying amounts of rain. Even if you are getting regular storms, you may still have to water. Often storms seem to drop a huge amount of water, but much of the rain runs off before it can do much good. It’s those slow, day-long rains that really benefit the lawn and garden.

CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS: Bucktown and Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, Chicago Loop, Evanston

Bucktown and Wicker Park: West Fest is back this weekend for its 13th year! This annual street party is a Chicago favorite. The fest will run from July 7 to the 9th and is both kid-friendly and dog-friendly. It’s located along the 1800 to 2000 blocks of Chicago Avenue, from Wood Street to Damen Avenue. There is no admission fee; however a $5 donation is suggested to help offset costs and support the West Town Chamber of Commerce, as well as two local public schools.

You know when you find a new restaurant you love and you just can’t stop going there? That’s what happened to me with this week’s restaurant find. Goddess and Grocer is an amazing, reasonably priced deli with locations all over the city.

Restaurant Review – Polygon Thai

Andersonville is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Chicago. There are so many shops, bars, and restaurants to explore; I always find a new place I love. This week, I happened into Polygon Cafe. I came in around noon and there were only a few other tables, always a pleasant surprise.
