THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Celebrating Dads This Father’s Day!

This Sunday is Father’s Day already!  And in true Chicago-style, this weekend’s events were planned with Dads in mind.  Let the celebrating begin!!

There’s no better way to celebrate Dad this Father’s Day weekend than with world-class ribs at the 21st annual Ribfest Chicago on Saturday and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) in the North Center neighborhood at 4000 N. Lincoln Avenue (Lincoln/Damen/Irving Park).  Choose from 30 food vendors serving up all your favorite meats, sweets, and festival treats from some of the best-known spots in the Chicago area.  Ribfest is also a nationally recognized music festival hosting the best original national and local indie artists.  Family-friendly entertainment will include music, dance, games, and crafts.  Other highlights of this fest include the Celebrity Judging and People’s Choice competitions to award prizes for the Best Ribs!  Ribfest is Chicago’s largest cookout and still smoke-king, and fit for a king like Dad!!

Head to Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 N. Cannon Dr.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for the 5th annual Craft Brews at the Zoo on Saturday (6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.).  This after-hours tasting event features a selection of over 150 craft beers at beer tasting stations set up throughout the zoo’s beautiful gardens.  Plus enjoy food for purchase, DJ entertainment, lawn games, and views of the zoo’s amazing animals!  It’s sure to be a wild time for the craft beer lover Dads out there!!

The Taste of Randolph Street is an annual food and music festival held in Chicago’s buzzing West Loop neighborhood at 900 W. Randolph Street (Randolph & Peoria Streets) this Saturday and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.).  Commemorating its 23rd anniversary, this festival brings together the biggest and brightest names in Chicago dining featuring over 16 restaurants exemplary for delectable menus and unique flavors.  Plus the nation’s hottest up-and-coming bands and musicians, as well as the biggest names in Chicago house music, will be performing on two stages entertaining Dads and guests on their culinary adventure!

The all new Chicago Taco & Tequila Fest takes place in the Lincoln Park neighborhood at 2491 N. Canon Drive (just north of Fullerton Ave.) on Saturday (11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.).  Of course, both traditional and exotic stuffed tortillas as well as the juices of the blue agave plant (better known as tequila) take the spotlight.  But the fest also features tastings, mixologists, live bands, and DJs.  Tacos and tequila – it’s a tasty combination sure to please any Dad!

This weekend’s sporting events include:  the Chicago White Sox hosting the New York Yankees at Guaranteed Rate Field (333 W. 35th St.) in the Bridgeport neighborhood, and the Chicago Dogs hosting the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks at Impact Field (9850 Balmoral Ave.) in Rosemont.  Chicago Dogs games welcome fans of all ages for a one-of-a-kind experience where every day is fan appreciation day.
