TECHNOLOGY TIPS – A NOT SO NEW APP

TECHNOLOGY TIPS – A NOT SO NEW APP

When commuting around the Chicagoland area I like to read. Sometimes I will forget my book or not grab a RedEye in time so I need to fall back on something that is interesting and current.

I’ve started playing with this new app called Flipboard. It’s not really new but it’s new to me. You see I made the switch to the Samsung Galaxy 5 in the past couple weeks so I’ve been getting everything up and running to what I need and want on my phone. This app really has some interesting features that I really enjoy.

First you can create your own board. So let’s say you are really keen on reading all about a specific topic. You create a new board (think in terms of folders on your computer) and then save whatever you want to read for later into that one location. When initially setting up your account you can choose the broad categories of interest to you so that you continue to get current news from around the world.

Second you can connect your social media all into one place. How great to have your social media in one location and be able to keep track of all your contacts. Not only can you keep up with your contacts but you can also share what you’ve found directly from Flipboard. It’s really easy to post quickly and keep going with your day.

Finally you stay current on the news around the world. You not only get to keep up with specific categories but also headlines across the globe. You don’t have to watch the news or talk shows. You can simply flip through the headlines and get the information yourself on your own time.

I’ve been enjoying this since a friend of mine downloaded it onto my phone. One point to reference though. Be sure you have enough data because it can use a good deal of data if you don’t pay attention.
