THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – IT’S TIME FOR CHICAGO TO WARM THINGS UP!

I don’t know about you but I believe it’s time for Chicago to warm things up a bit despite the continuing snowfall and arctic blasts! And you know what they are!!!

The Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat Sports & RV Show is located at McCormick Place (2301 South Lake Shore Drive) in the South Loop from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday (for those who are fortunate enough to have the day off!). Besides plenty of fun attractions for all ages boating lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can begin planning their warmer months activities by finding some of the best deals on hundreds of boats marine accessories RVs camping equipment fishing gear and much more!

For those of you who miss your outdoor farmers market with its fresh produce from local farmers and warm sunshine here are a few indoor farmers markets to extend that selling season and bring the warmness back:

– The Green City Market is located in a heated tent attached to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (2430 North Cannon Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through April 19th. Besides all the usual farmers market items being sold by over 45 vendors chef demonstrations also take place daily during the winter market with Corey Roettgers of Uncommon Ground demonstrating from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. this Saturday.

– The Logan Square Indoor Farmers Market is located at their new location in an old bakery building at 2755 North Milwaukee Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Sunday through March 30th. Food fun and music take place all winter long at this market and Jeff Rolfzen a singer-songwriter and folk lorist from Minneapolis will be performing this Sunday.

– The 3rd annual Indoor Farmer and Artisan Food Market is located at the Ladd Arboretum’s Evanston Ecology Center (2024 McCormick Boulevard) in Evanston from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday through April 26th. New this year the market is expanding by adding a heated tent to accommodate 15 more vendors for a total of 40 vendors.

– And finally there’s the Festibarrel 2014 being hosted at the Riverview Tavern (1958 West Roscoe Street) in the Roscoe Village neighborhood on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to close. It’s an all day celebration of wood and barrel aged beers with special tappings and special guests from over 30 different breweries as well as raffles for some awesome craft beer prizes taking place every 30 minutes. Best of all 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Washington IL tornado victims! If that doesn’t warm the cockles of your heart I don’t know what will!!!
