TECHNOLOGY TIPS – REAL CAMERAS ON THE GO

When thinking about purchasing a smart phone many look at the camera since it appears as an "all in one" solution. The reality is that they still can’t quite compete with a traditional camera in terms of image quality and control. Announced today Sony is reportedly gearing up to announce a pair of "lens cameras" that attach to your existing smartphone or tablet.

According to SonyAlphaRumors we should anticipate two different models: the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100. Both models will have special features including a sensor processor zoom lens WiFi connectivity and an SD card slot. There won’t be a display or other typical controls besides a zoom toggle and possibly a shutter release and your handset or tablet will control the lens adjust framing and transmit images.

Sony has not officially revealed these new models but it’s an ingenious solution to improving a smartphone’s photography prowess. You definitely give up the option of holding your phone and lens in your pocket but the capability is well worth it. Sony has not issued any word on pricing or availability but with Sony’s IFA press conference on September 4th we’ll get the full scoop.
