Check out the new lights along Congress Parkway! About 600 decorative luminaries and tower-like panels that change colors were flipped on along Congress Parkway Thursday night marking the completion of $24 million in road and streetscape improvements. The work included redesigning parts of Congress between Wells Street and Michigan Avenue to improve traffic flow and signal timing for the 63000 drivers who use the corridor each weekday officials said. Also sidewalks were widened and planters and other landscaping installed. The lights are intended to be "visually interesting but also not distracting" to drivers said Janet Attarian a CDOT project director. Each light fixture can feature any of 16 million colors she said. But four main color schemes for seasonal and holiday arrangements will be primarily displayed she said.

GOLD COAST

New Rebozo (46 E Superior St) a Chicago incarnation of the beloved suburban mole mecca is now open in the Gold Coast. This occupies a tiny garden-level spot that has been revived with sleek new furniture bright-red walls and a tasteful amount of Frida Kahlo artwork. There’s a pretty handy little front patio or if the weather’s bad grab a stool at the intimate six-person bar. There’s a whitewashed fireplace lit with white candles instead of logs. A silver shaker full of margarita (it’s conveniently big enough for two mixed tableside). And some of the best pumpkin-seed mole pollo encacahuatado (chicken with roasted chile de árbol and peanuts) and tacos chetumal (steak tacos with bacon) you’ve had in a long time.

OAK PARK
