THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – CHICAGO KICKS-BACK AFTER AN EARLY EASTER!

This first weekend in April may bring us our mildest temps yet which is a good thing as Chicago kicks-back after an early Easter with a variety of relaxing things to do!

One of Chicago’s longest running and largest improv festival in the world the Chicago Improv Festival is wrapping up this weekend at various locations throughout Chicago celebrating the best improv with 765 improvisers from 8 countries. It’s a great time to laugh out loud!

On Saturday the CIF features Beatbox and Sheldon at The Comedy Bar (157 W. Ontario Street) in the River North neighborhood. Beatbox is from ComedySportz Chicago and Sheldon is the famous duo of Rob Belushi and Jon Barinholtz!

On Sunday the CIF features The Improvised Shakespeare Co. and Adsit Lutz and Cannon at the Up Comedy Club (230 W. North Avenue) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Audience suggestions are taken by The Improvised Shakespeare Co. as they perform in full Elizabethan style along with Scott Adsit John Lutz and Kay Cannon from 30 Rock!

What better way to kick-back and relax than with An Afternoon of Bingo this Saturday (12:00 p.m.) at The Long Room (1612 W. Irving Park Road) in the Lakeview neighborhood. Not only will you enjoy playing Bingo on vintage cards which are $5 a piece but you also can enjoy food and drinks provided by area food trucks bakers and chefs!

It’s time to don your best 60’s-inspired attire for the Mad Men Season 6 Premiere Party this Sunday (8:00 p.m.) at the Fat Cat (4840 N. Broadway Street) in the Uptown neighborhood. Not only does this event feature Old Fashioned’s Stolichnaya Martinis Heineken and $2 canapés but guests can also enjoy complimentary candy cigarettes. And the classiest guest wins a prize!

Enjoy an afternoon catered to dogs at the Canine Carnival this Saturday (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) at the Meineke Recreation Center (220 E. Weathersfield Way) in Schaumburg. This carnival for dogs includes activities such as games costume and trick contests treats prizes an agility course and vendors. Please note that all dogs must have current shots so shot records are required!

Shop for the latest home products and services at this year’s Naperville Home and Garden Expo this Saturday and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) at the Players Indoor Sports Center (1740 W. Quincy Avenue) in Naperville. Here you can get advice from home improvement professionals all while receiving giveaways and discounts!

Enjoy live blues music every Saturday night (9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.) through June 1st with Live Blues at French Quarter located at the French Quarter New Orleans Kitchen (44 Yorktown Center) in Lombard. Why not make a night of it by reveling in the sweet and rich flavors of New Orleans with a selection of authentic Cajun Creole cuisine dishes before the live band takes the stage!

And lastly for my husband Cubs Home Opener is this Monday April 8th at 1:20 p.m. against the Milwaukee Brewers! Temperatures will be in the 40’s cloudy with rain but with possible breaks in the afternoon. We’ll see!
