The purpose of the Streets for Cycling Plan 2020 is to identify up to 250 miles of innovative bicycle facilities that will encourage all Chicagoans to use their bikes to get around their neighborhoods. Come tell CDOT how to improve your bicycling experience where improvements are needed and what would encourage you to bicycle in Chicago! Sulzer Regional Library 4455 N. Lincoln Ave. Wednesday February 1st 2012 6 – 8 p.m. presentation begins @ 6:30.

Northwest Chicago Film Society‘s new winter programming schedule for winter is out. The program features classic films every Wednesday night @ 7:30 at the Portage Theater (4050 North Milwaukee Avenue). Some of the upcoming films include January 11th – THE BRASHER DOUBLOON January 18th – TURN THE KEY SOFTLY January 25th – …ONE THIRD OF A NATION.

If so then you should try out Fight Jam a semisecret monthly fight club that will train you in the deadly art of hand-to-hand combat really the not-deadly-at-all art of stage combat. The workshop meets in a Lakeview loft is intended for actors and is open to anyone. The group introduces you to the proper way to fake kick fake punch and generally swashbuckle like Douglas Fairbanks. This is possibly one resolution you won’t let slide.

BLT American Brasserie now open to be a glamorously adorned tribute to all the things you love about France America and Japan. Located on the first floor of the former Montgomery Ward headquarters Chef Laurent Tourondel the famed French-born restaurateur welcomes you to the former home of Brasserie Ruhlmann and boasts their smoky barbecue Bloody Mary and challah french toast with gingerbread spices among others including yellowtail-caviar roll jalapeño margaritas and Red Apple & Bourbon Fizzes.

NAPERVILLE

Seventh-graders Delaney Gibbons and Taylor Morrissey have organized "Dodgin’ 4 Lou Gehrig’s Disease Dodgeball Tournament" on Jan. 13 to raise money for the ALS Les Turner Foundation a leader in ALS research patient care and education. The girls learned about Denise DiMarzo’s fight through Facebook. DiMarzo’s husband Chris Benyo is attempting to raise $26200 ($1000 per mile) by running the New Jersey marathon in May while pushing DiMarzo. The money raised at the dodgeball tournament will go toward that goal.
