PORTAGE PARK

You can still get in on the newest Chicago tradition Meat Week. It’s the first week in February and you get a group of people to eat at a different BBQ place in your town for 8 days. Then you vote on superlatives like best sauce best atmosphere etc. The same people don’t have to go every day but someone has to take photos at every place….

LINCOLN PARK

Are you looking for some crafts after the big Chicago Snowzapalooza? Why not make plans to head out on Friday Feb 4 to Inkling located at 2917 1/2 N Broadway St. Inkling is throwing an FREE opening reception for a group show entitled Love Local this Friday from 6-10pm. Among the dozen local artists involved are Chris Corbalis and Britton Walters who have designed for Busy Beaver Button Co. Come check out their artwork and the Busy Beaver Button-O-Matic with Inkling exclusive designs.

SOUTH LOOP

It’s official the first QR or Quick Response code (those square-shaped funky-looking bar codes that appear in magazines train stations or even on business cards) in billboard size has popped up in the South Loop. Check it out on the corner of Polk and Clark streets.

GOLD COAST

If your favorite place to watch the game is in front of your own flat-screen holding your own remote and yelling your own plays at least leave the Kobe Beef Brisket and Bacon-Cheddar Hush Puppies to someone else. You have your hands full enough already. Place your order at Chicago’s Q Restaurant by Friday February 4. Uh-MA-zing SuperBowl menu!

EVANSTON

Like the Chicago Public Schools Evanston schools had not been closed in over ten years simply due to weather. Unfortunately for the kids school is back in session on Friday. Although temperatures on Friday are not expected to be as low as they are today the district is urging parents and guardians to make sure children are dressed warmly and with bright hats particularly if they must wait on corners for buses.
