TECHNOLOGY TIPS – A FUN LITTLE FIND IN CELL PHONES

Cathy Mallers PhotoI was joking around with a friend of mine last week about how I am not yet playing the trombone to read but we both know that day is on the horizon. We decided to see if there was something out there for us IF that time comes.

What we found was a cell phone specifically designed for users who need a larger keypad. Imagine wanting a cell phone and not being able to use it because you can’t see the key pad.

Enter the Jitterbug. This phone is not for those of you who want all the bells and whistles with your phone. It’s a cell phone in its purest form – no texting no music no camera just a phone with voicemail to make phone calls.

The phone itself is slightly larger to accommodate its target market – seniors and those with vision impairment. The earpiece is lined with rubber specifically to help block out surrounding noise – bonus is the lack of oil on the screen from touching the face directly.

One feature I found extremely interesting is that when you open the phone it has a dial tone. This allows users to know that you have coverage. No dial tone no service.

The other feature that was really great is the large number format of the keys. I don’t know about you but it can be frustrating if you hit the wrong key or two keys at once.

To read more about this phone and all its unique features read about a focus group study review here.
