The town of Bourbonnais is alive and energetic as the Chicago Bears open yet another training camp to what has been a highly anticipated season for our NFC Champion Bears. The obvious question is whether or not the Bears have what it takes to go to the Super Bowl again and win?
The Bears claim they’re hungry and feel that with a vast amount of starters returning and the experience of the Super Bowl season under their belts nothing can stop them. As a Bears fan you certainly hope this is true. However I quickly realized that they have one tough schedule this season. They open against LaDainian Tomlinson and the high-powered San Diego Chargers on the road only to then have to come home and play the physical running game of the Kansas City Chiefs and then the passing offense of Terrell Owens and the Dallas Cowboys. Arguably there’s only one easy game on their schedule and that’s against the Oakland Raiders in Oakland!
To add to this tough schedule are a few key questions entering the season: Can Rex Grossman be the QB to win a Super Bowl? Does Cedric Benson have what it takes to be an every down running back now that Thomas Jones is gone? Will Tommy Harris be able to play at a high level after a serious injury? How will Lance Briggs play after going through a tumultuous off-season? Does Greg Olsen the Bears’ first round selection in the April draft have the ability to be a difference-maker in the NFL? Will Bob Babich the Bears’ new defensive coordinator keep the Bears defense at the top of its game?
Time will tell but if the answers to the aforementioned questions are positive there will be many excited fans in this town. One thing is for sure the excitement of Chicago Bears football is second to none and I absolutely think the Bears can make it to the Super Bowl and win it!
