Lincoln Park: It’s almost farmer’s market season here in Chicago! Join Green City Market at their Outdoor Market Season Launch Party this Tuesday, April 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The event is at The Basement at Lagunitas Brewing Company and will feature local food and brews to celebrate the upcoming launch of Green City Market’s 19th season. There will be food from Green City Market’s partner chefs and $6 beers all night. Beer sales will directly support Green City Market, a non-profit organization. Admission is $10 and includes food from Abby’s Crepes, Farmhouse Chicago, Hoosier Mama Pie Company, Biscuit Man, and more! More restaurants will be added to the line-up as well. There will be a raffle with tickets to this year’s Chef’s BBQ, a cooking class at the Chopping Block, CSA from Mint Creek Farm, a brunch at Publican Anker, and more! Lakeview: Get those running legs ready! The 13th Annual Race to Wrigley Charity Run is coming up fast, on Sunday, May 6! Proceeds from the race will benefit Cubs Charities, which provides increased access to sports opportunities and targets improvements in health, fitness, and education for those at risk. Cubs Charities will donate proceeds from personal fundraising to support pediatric cancer programs through Advocate Health Care. The first 100 people to fundraise $500 will receive a baseball autographed by a current Cubs player! The race is at Wrigley Field and begins at 8 am. Runners will race through the Lakeview neighborhood before entering the Wrigley Field concourse. The race will end just steps away from the Wrigley Field Marquee! The 5K Run/Walk costs $49 for adults and $29 for children 12 and under. Register here!

Bucktown and Wicker Park: Prepare yourself for Say Cheese Fest 2018! Presented by Social Power Hour, Say Cheese Fest highlights restaurants and retailers that serve the cheesiest products. This Sunday, April 15, there are three sessions: 11 am- 1 pm, 1 pm- 3 pm, and 2:30 pm- 4:30 pm. General admission tickets include tastes from various cheese vendors and 5 sponsored drink tickets. Vendors include Blackwood BBQ, Gayle’s Best Ever Grilled Cheese, Cone Gourmet, Baked Cheese Haus, Knife & Tine, and many more! Tickets are $45 and can be purchased here.

River North: Have you been to the Chicago Latino Film Festival yet? The 34th annual festival began on April 5 and runs until the 19th. This event features over 100 feature-length and short films from Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the United States. All of the films will be shown in their original language, with English subtitles where appropriate. General admission tickets are $13, student and senior tickets are $10. Logan Square: It’s time for the 7th Annual Barking for Brews! Mark your calendars now for Sunday, April 29 from 4 to 6 pm. This beer-tasting benefit will be held at Revolution Brewing and all proceeds will benefit the Midwest Rescue of Illinois. You’ll have a fabulous time, all while supporting pit bull rescue. There will be unlimited servings of Revolution’s five core microbrews, which range from golden ales to robust porters, tasty appetizers, a laid-back atmosphere, fantastic raffle prizes, and a 50/50 drawing! Portage Park: Don’t forget about Earth Day! Friends of the Parks started “Earth Day Parks & Preserves Clean Up & Celebration” 29 years ago. They wanted to engage communities in their local parks and forest preserves. Today, FOTP partners with a multitude of other groups including Friends of the Forest Preserves, Chicago Park District, and Forest Preserve District of Cook County. “Your Earth: Your Legacy: 29th Annual Earth Day Clean-Up” will take place on Saturday April 21 from 9 am to noon in parks throughout the Chicago area. From noon to 2 pm, there will be a celebration in Humboldt Park including lunch, games, and activities for all ages. Register to volunteer at Portage Park here!
