Restaurant Review – Twisted Spoke

Another Saturday- another brunch. This weekend took me to Twisted Spoke, a biker bar in Wicker Park. Located at 501 N Ogden, this was the perfect spot for an early morning brunch. We got there at about 9 am on Saturday morning and were the only customers. Twisted Spoke’s Bloody Mary was featured on Chicago Eater’s list “12 of Chicago’s Best Bloody Mary’s” in May of 2016; so I knew I had to start my meal with one. I chose the Road Rash Mary: The Classic. Their homemade bloody mix is spiked with beer and topped with salami, pepperoncini, cocktail onions, and parmesan cheese. It was absolutely delicious! The mix was perfectly spicy and the toppings were savory and tasty. The brunch menu is loaded with delicious items; it made it so difficult to pick something. I finally decided on the Chila-Killas: homemade tortillas scrambled with a spicy pepper mix and eggs. For an extra $3, you can top your dish with chorizo or chicken. I chose chorizo! First of all, the portion was gigantic! It’s a good thing I came hungry. Second, it was DELICIOUS. The chorizo was spicy, the onions on top were tangy and sweet, and the spicy pepper mix was the perfect complement to the whole dish. My boyfriend decided on the Mescin Scramble: three eggs, chorizo, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and chihuahua cheese, with a side of home fries and toast. The scramble was loaded with cheese and he said it was very tasty. I had a bite of the home fries and they were crispy and well seasoned. Next time, I want to try the Fried Egg Sandwich: two eggs over easy, cheddar cheese, thick-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on Texas toast with a side of potatoes.

Twisted Spoke is open Mondays through Fridays from 11 am to 2 am, Saturdays from 9 am to 3 am, and Sundays from 9 am to 2 am. Check out this “twisted” spot!
