THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Embracing Remaining Dog Days of Summer!
Chicagoans will be embracing the remaining days of what is known as the “Dog Days of Summer” this first weekend of August as preparations for a new school year have begun. Come join in the fun!
This year, the annual Jeff Fest held in the Jefferson Park neighborhood is officially rebranding itself for the inaugural Chicago Italian Beef Fest this Saturday (12 p.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.-8 p.m.) at Jefferson Memorial Park (4822 N. Long Ave.). This festival is your chance to sample the offerings of the iconic Italian Beef Sandwich from top regional vendors and then cast a vote for your favorite one. In addition, this Fest also features two stages of live music by tribute and local bands; a huge Kid’s Zone for family fun; and a local artisan craft market. Let’s show some love to the new kid on the block!
Chicago’s massive multi-genre music festival running through the weekend, Lollapalooza returns to Hutchinson Field in Grant Park (lower E. Randolph St. at Columbus Dr.) in the Loop with some of the biggest names in pop, rock, and hip-hop. This year features over 170 incredible musical acts across eight massive stages along with art displays, and food, drinks, and sweets from Chicago’s favorite restaurants. In addition, and new this year, Motorola is bringing its first-ever, brand-new Ferris wheel, the “Razr Wheel,” which will be installed in the center of Grant Park and offers complimentary rides throughout the weekend so attendees can take in panoramic views of the city’s skyline and the festival grounds. Get ready to cheer on your favorite Hot Wheels monster trucks at this year’s Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire this Saturday (11:30 a.m. & 6:30 p.m.) and Sunday (1:30 p.m.) returning to the United Center (1901 W. Madison St.) in the West Loop. Besides fan-favorite monster trucks, the all new Rhinomite™ will be making its debut this year. Also, this new edition of the show blends Hot Wheels’ signature glow-in-the-dark visuals with fiery effects, massive jumps, and high-octane stunts designed for fans of all ages along with freestyle motocross, crash zones, and interactive pre-show experiences. It’s the ultimate family experience!
The Black Women’s Expo takes place this Saturday (10 a.m-7 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m.-6 p.m.) at McCormick Place (2301 S. Lake Shore Dr.) in the South Loop and is the premier destination for everything that matters to the Black women and her family.
