Laundry is either a large or small job, depending on the number of people in your family. If you have children, unfortunately it will be a daily chore. Nevertheless, everyone in the family should be responsible for bringing their own laundry down and even younger children can help with sorting and folding. Make sure you DO the laundry. Just getting it into the dryer is not done. Folded and put away is finished!

Bucktown and Wicker Park: Always looking for your next caffeine fix? You’re in luck! Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea Bar opens next Wednesday in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Located at 1620 N Milwaukee Ave, the shop has a grand opening planned for Wednesday, March 29.
The Lakeview neighborhood has a veritable cornucopia of exciting restaurants, making it nearly impossible to choose a place to eat. Wandering up Clark St. earlier this week, I happened upon HopCat. The large, colorful stained glass windows are immediately inviting. The promise of over 100 beers on tap didn’t hurt either!
Dawn dishwashing liquid is one of the best de-greasers there is. We have all seen the commercial where it’s used to clean birds after oil spills. It is effective on grease while being gentle on birds’ feathers and skin.
Ok, so some of us got dumped on with snow this past week, no big deal – the weekend is upon us, the snow will be gone and spring is officially here on Monday. It’s time to shed ‘ole man winter and begin planning for the awakening and blooming of spring!
Lakeview: Senator Elizabeth Warren is scheduled to speak at the Music Box Theatre on April 22. She will be speaking about her new book, “This Fight is Our Fight: The Battle to Save America’s Middle Class”. Her talk begins at 2:30 pm and books purchased at the event will be pre-signed by the Senator.
I had friends in town from Austin this weekend, so naturally, we had to take them to have classic Chicago deep dish pizza. What better place than a Chicago staple, Giordano’s? We started with the calamari appetizer. It was a huge platter, with a mix of fried calamari, green beans, lemon rings, banana peppers, and shaved fennel.
You only need a few square feet of soil to provide vegetables for the whole family. Raised beds are the best way to grow healthy vegetable plants. Many times, plants die or develop disease from sitting in water that does not properly drain. Timbers work well, but make sure you get wolmanized wood.
There’s nothing quite like St. Patrick’s Day here in Chicago! Chicagoans celebrate Irish culture and tradition throughout this great city of ours this weekend, since the actual holiday falls on a workday (next Friday)! So, don your best green outfit and become Irish for a day, because there is no shortage of ways to celebrate!!
