THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Spring Has Sprung – Embrace & Celebrate It!

It’s officially spring but you wouldn’t know it by our wintery cool temps!  That being said, spring has sprung, and Chicagoans are going to embrace and celebrate it!!

If you weren’t able to go green with us last weekend, here’s your chance with the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle this Sunday at Grant Park (337 E. Randolph St.) in The Loop.  Kick off the running season with an 8K run or 2-mile walk at this longstanding tradition with scenic course routes starting and finishing at Grant Park.  Celebrate your finish at the post-race party (featuring live music) and receive a drink ticket redeemable for one Michelob ULTRA!  The celebration will continue at The Scout Waterhouse & Kitchen (1301 S. Wabash Ave.) from 2:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.  Bring your race bib and receive another ticket redeemable for another Michelob ULTRA.  Here’s to going green!!

Come greet spring and celebrate our region’s growing local food community at the 14th annual Good Food EXPO this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) at the UIC Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Rd.) in the Little Italy/University Village neighborhood.  This family friendly event features great programming that includes the Chefs at Play demo stage, a “Good Food is Good Medicine” track, the Purple Asparagus Kids’ Corner, a Good Food Court, over 150 exhibitors and vendors in the Good Food Marketplace, and much more!  It’s the Midwest’s premier showcase for local and sustainable food!!

Join Macy’s (111 N. State St.) in The Loop for their annual “Welcome to Spring!” at their Macy’s Flower Show – Once Upon A Springtime beginning this Sunday and running through April 8th.  Transformed into breathtaking floral scenes with blooms, fantasy flowers, and lush plants from around the world, you will enter a magical storybook world of beauty and wonder typically seen only in fairytales!  Themed events and specialty gardens are featured as well.  Enjoy a one-of-a-kind marvel as you set off on an enchanted adventure!!

If you’re going to be busy in the kitchen next weekend with lamb cakes and coloring eggs in preparation of Easter, here’s a list of Easter egg hunts taking place this weekend to kick off your Easter early:
