THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – A “FESTFUL” WEEKEND FOR MANY OF CHICAGO’S NEIGHBORHOODS!

This weekend is bringing out a few of Chicago’s various neighborhoods for a “Festful” weekend! The West Lakeview Neighborhood is hosting Oktoberfest Chicago this Saturday (11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) at Southport and Lincoln Avenues. Returning for its 15th year in addition to authentic German food/beer pop/German music entertainment on two stages brats and pretzels the popular Craft Beer Tasting takes place Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with 20 tastings of over 40 samples of unique beers. And the popular Kids’ KinderFest is now extended for two days (Saturday & Sunday 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) where fest-goers of all ages can enjoy plenty of kids’ activities that include crafts face painting a jumpy house an obstacle course learn how to polka and much more!

The Lincoln Park Neighborhood is hosting Fiesta Familiar this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) at 2000-2800 N. Clark Street (Lincoln Park Zoo area). It’s the very best family entertainment of its kind featuring interactive pavilions and entertainment such as Arts & Crafts that include Ferris wheel craft storytelling a book raffle a kids coloring station and photos on the red carpet; Music & Entertainment featuring live entertainment and cultural performances for adults and kids; Health & Nutrition that include healthy cooking demonstrations an eat the rainbow coloring station and a nutritional bingo game; Home & Garden featuring flower bed activity creating a homemade bird feeder and a nature sensory exploration and so much more!

The West Town Neighborhood is hosting the Grand Art & Design Festival (formerly known as the “Design Harvest Fest”) this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.) on Grand Avenue between Damen Avenue & Wood Street. This revamped fest not only will continue the Design Harvest tradition by showcasing local home and garden design vendors but it will now feature local artisans and crafters handmade goods neighborhood vendors a mix of Country & Americana live music hayrides family activities food trucks and much more!

The South Loop Neighborhood is hosting Moon Festival this Saturday (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) at Chinatown Square (2100 S. Wentworth Ave.). This fest features exciting performances such as the dragon and lion dance traditional dance and music lanterns show Shaolin Kung Fu along with games raffles and even a dumplings eating contest where advance reservations are required! And due to popular demand the feast for 1000 Elders (a grand royal banquet) returns so younger generations can learn about the history of China and the importance of showing respect to their elders!!

The Hyde Park Neighborhood is hosting the 9th annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival this Saturday (1:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.) and Sunday (1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.) throughout the Hyde Park neighborhood at various venues. This free festival features the best in local national and international jazz talent along with an outdoor dance floor food/beverage vendors picnic areas artisan vendors and much much more!

The Avondale Neighborhood is hosting its 4th annual A Day in Avondale this Saturday (11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) at Milwaukee Avenue between Kimball and Belmont Avenues. In addition to food/drink specials at area restaurants hands-on arts & crafts and music/theatrical performances in various parks/venues this fest will also feature “Moe-waukee Fest” at Moe’s Tavern (2937 N. Milwaukee Ave.) “FrankenToy Mobile” workshops in front of the Corner Art Gallery (2912 N. Milwaukee Ave.) and much more!
