THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – CHICAGO CONTINUES TO OFFER “SUMMER-TIME” FUN!

Despite the fact that this is the last weekend in August that some have started school already and those who haven’t you’re time is coming Chicago still continues to offer summer-time fun! Attracting a national and international audience of food and wine lovers as well as featuring world-class chefs culinary personalities sommeliers cocktail experts and rising stars the Chicago Food + Wine Festival returns with a Chef Showcase Cooking Demonstrations and a Toast & Taste. The Grand Tasting where guests can meet the city’s top chefs and sample dishes from a diverse line-up of restaurants will be held Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) in Lincoln Park (entrance located at N. Stockton & LaSalle St.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood while the Toast & Taste where guests sample signature dishes from award-winning chefs takes place Saturday (6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) in Grant Park (entrance located at Columbus Dr. between Congress Pkwy & Balboa Ave.) in The Loop. A great opportunity to meet the talent and enjoy the innovation and unique flavors of Chicago’s best food and wine!

Celebrating Chicago’s top designers boutiques and latest fashion the Chicago Fashion Fest returns to the Wicker Park neighborhood (1725 W. Division St. between Ashland & Damen Avenues) this Saturday and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) with Wicker Park After Dark — dazzling outdoor runway shows each night; DJ music throughout the day; “Shopper’s Row” offering booths of local fashion designers boutiques salons and a last call sidewalk sale; food & drink tents and much more! This is a must for all Fashionistas!!

Returning for its 30th year the Bucktown Arts Fest is one of Chicago’s premier art festivals and a Bucktown neighborhood tradition bringing you close to 200 juried artists in a variety of mediums as well as two music stages roaming performances food trucks craft beers and a kids area! This fest takes place Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) at Senior Citizens Memorial Park (2300 N. Oakley Ave.) across from Holstein Park. You won’t be disappointed!

Returning to Oak Street Beach (1000 N. Lakeshore Dr.) in the Gold Coast neighborhood is the AVP Kingston Chicago Open for a beach volleyball tournament and the most frequented location outside of California this Saturday (8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and Sunday (8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) with competitions taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (subject to change). Of course besides the worlds’ best beach volleyball talent this event also features interactive activations food music and more! Get your sunscreen on!!

Finally the Granddaddy of all physical endurance the Transamerica Chicago Triathlon takes place this Sunday (4:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) beginning at Monroe Harbor (400 E. Monroe St.) in The Loop then looping along Lake Shore Drive and culminating on Columbus Drive. Your race weekend will consist of five stand-alone triathlons as well as the Triple Challenge which consists of three races unto itself! The post-race party and picnic will kick-off at 8:00 a.m. at Columbus Dr. & Balboa Ave. with the Award Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Will you be a Participant or Supporter?
