TECHNOLOGY TIPS – GMAIL UNDO SEND

I think we’ve all done this at some point – sent an email with a typo that changes the entire context of the message; sent a response that really was inappropriate; or sent a message to the wrong person. While all of these scenarios are not major faux pas they can potentially create issues. With Undo Send as an official option in Gmail you can control all your messages in a smart way.

You will have to make sure that you have this featured turned on so here are some quick steps. First click on the gear shift and select Settings. Second scroll down to the option called Undo Send. Third select the box if it is not already selected. Fourth change the timeframe to 30 seconds. Finally scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Save Changes. You are now ready to use this feature.

I recommend using 30 seconds because it’s enough time to undo the send of your message. Once you click on Undo your compose window re-opens the draft message you were creating. You can choose to wait to edit your message and it will save to your drafts. Or you can choose to make edits and resend the message with the new edits.

Next time you send an email message know that you can now bring it back to make edits.
