This first weekend in April brings Chicagoans a “jam-packed” two days of events we haven’t seen here in a while with a slew of outdoor fun!

Last weekend we kicked-off the official running season here in Chicago; however if you missed it here’s your chance to get your running season off to a good start with these events:

The Chi Town Half Marathon & 10K takes place on Saturday with the first race beginning 8:15 a.m. at Fullerton Avenue and Cannon Drive in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. This annual race takes participants along the Chicago lakefront and through Lincoln Park on USATF certified courses with Pacers available to help you achieve your goal time. Each participant receives a spring weight zip hoodie a personalized Bib number an Eco tote and a 10K & half finisher medal. Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants male and female in each age group as well as plenty of deep dish pizza and beer with a live band at the finish line! Best of all this event benefits the “Special Olympics Chicago” organization!!

The Chicago Quarter Marathon takes place on Saturday (9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.) at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr.) in the South Loop with its 2nd annual 6.55-mile run that takes participants south along the Lake Michigan shoreline then looping back to Soldier Field for a post-race party that includes snacks awards and a live band! And a portion of this event’s proceeds will benefit a great organization the Chicago-headquartered “Prevent Child Abuse America!!”
