THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – A “SUPER” LINE-UP OF SORTS!

This weekend Chicago bids farewell to January 2015 and welcomes February 2015 with a “Super” line-up of sorts!

For all you fans of the popular T.V. show “Amazing Race” Urban Adventure Quest has developed the Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure throughout various cities in the United States for those who can’t take the required time off from their jobs to be on “Amazing Race” and it just so happens that Chicago is one of those cities! Chicago is turned into a giant game board for this fun scavenger hunt taking place on Saturday and Sunday (9:00 a.m.) through the end of April at The Westin Chicago River North (320 N. Dearborn St.) on the Near North Side. Here’s how it works: Smart Phone clues lead you on a fun and engaging walking tour of the city (about 2 to 2½ miles) while solving clues completing challenges and working together to unravel secrets of Chicago. Optional hints are provided to make sure that all teams can find a location or solve a challenge to move forward while correct answers earn you points. It’s a great way to experience Chicago in a whole new way while having a “super” fun time!!

A hands-on cooking and eating experience for the whole clan (ages 2 & up including Grandmas & Grandpas) can be had at a Family Cooking Class this Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Kids’ Table (2337 W. North Ave.) in the Wicker Park neighborhood. These thrice-monthly primers offer the opportunity for kids and adults to work side-by-side preparing delicious meals and then enjoying them together! This Saturday’s menu is Black Bean Sweet Potato Quesadillas Tortilla Soup & Chocolate Clusters – YUMMY!!

That time of year is upon us once again with one the biggest games of the season Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday in Phoenix Arizona and of course the Chicago Bears didn’t make it (what else is new). Anyway despite that fact Chicagoans are very competitive fans and we love our sports so here’s a few festivities taking over the city for this year’s Chicago Super Bowl Parties

The 6th annual Revel Bowl transforms Chicago’s Great Hall Union Station (500 W. Jackson Blvd.) on the Near West Side into a Katy Perry (half-time performer) Candyland extravaganza for a night of Super Bowl football cocktails and culinary stations this Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Guests can also enjoy a pregame tailgating cocktail reception complete with live DJ’s cocktails and creative cuisine along with an after-hours dance party! By the way 100% of the funds raised from donations and ticket sales will be contributed to Revel Cares benefitting Oakley Square a local low-income subsidized housing community!!

Reservations for a group of 10 or more at Rocks North Center (4138 N. Lincoln Ave.) will get you an hour-long pre-game tailgate party or just come out and enjoy their game day menu and other goodies this Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Roscoe Village’s friendly neighborhood tavern Commonwealth Tavern (2000 W. Roscoe St.) will be serving brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with TVs well-positioned to make sure everyone has good seat as well as providing additional game day specials!

Chili Frito Pizza 200 different types of beer prizes and free line cards given away each quarter are headlined at Compass Bar (433 W. Diversey Pkwy.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for your game day pleasure!

Food and drink specials 23 TVs 2 projectors 23 beers on tap a Jameson’s free half-time competition where you can kick a field goal to win a $250 prize and more top-off game day at Lottie’s Pub (1925 W. Cortland St.) in the Bucktown neighborhood!

Finally here’s your opportunity to enjoy top fare at value pricing at restaurants throughout the city and surrounding suburbs at the 8th annual Chicago Restaurant Week from January 30th through February 12th! Not only can you choose from multiple cuisines and many neighborhoods but you can also choose from prix fixe menus offering lunch ($22) and/or dinner ($33/$44). However please note that participating restaurants may not serve both lunch and dinner so you may want to browse your options in advance!!

Hope You Have A “Super” Weekend! I Know I Will – GO …..!!
