NORWOOD PARK

It’s time to mark your calendars for the St. Cornelius Catholic School 6th Annual Fall Fest. On September 28 from 12-5pm the festival starts with 11am mass at the church. Getting into the spirit of Halloween there will be a pumpkin patch and a build-your-own scarecrow workshop. Other kids activities include a craft market Scholastic book fair free-throw contest. Adult activities include a baggo tournament and a food/beer tent where the Chicago Bears/Green Bay Packers game will be show.

LINCOLN PARK

Oktoberfest on your mind yet? It’s definitely getting close and beginning this Saturday Taco Joint has added a bratwurst taco to its menu to celebrate. It’s called a Jalisco bratwurst taco which includes a tequila-spiked brat with "serrano-kraut" and ground arbol chile-mustard. Not to be missed is Revolution Brewing’s Oktoberfest brew on tap to accompany this unique taste. Don’t wait though it’s off the menu on October 5.

SOUTH LOOP

Have you ever found something of interest like an artifact that you just can’t quite figure out? The Field Museum is hosting its first "ID Day." Except for roadkill or live animals you can bring in just about anything you want including a skull or rock or seashells or dead bugs (as long as they’re sealed in a container). For any animals live or dead the Field suggests bringing in photos for the scientific team to analyze.

OLD TOWN

Would you be could you be mine won’t you be my neighbor? This Saturday afternoon in Bauler Park 510 W. Wisconsin St. come celebrate the 90th birthday of Ella Jenkins known as The First Lady of Children’s Music. Jenkins has been recording music for over 50 years and has over 40 releases on the Smithsonian Folkways label. Tim Ferrin Chicago independent filmmaker has been documenting Jenkins’ life which includes appearances on "Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood" to receiving a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

OAK PARK

The beer fests are heating up this weekend! And it’s not just beer but also root beer floats by Cold Stone Creamery. Come see the Oaktoberfest in downtown Oak Park. You can expect to taste 14 craft beers 13 food vendors from local downtown restaurants and 8 different bands. While the adults are having fun the kids can enjoy the "Root Beer Garden" which includes a ninja obstacle course karaoke and "zucchini cars." Be sure to take public transportation if possible as parking will be limited.
