TECHNOLOGY TIPS – NEW BYTEMARK APP

TECHNOLOGY TIPS – NEW BYTEMARK APP

It won’t be long before all Chicagoland commuters will be able to use Bytemark‘s new mobile ticketing app currently available on the South Shore Line. The technology itself is being used in other cities like New York and Austin. Partnering with the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) the train line connects Chicago to South Bend Indiana.

The app has many features that mobile phone users will enjoy. The home page will give each user an individualized experience based primarily on their history of usage and settings. There is also the ability to purchase your train ticket directly through the app. For someone like myself who tends to run late this is a huge benefit not to have to wait in line or pay the added fee of purchasing a ticket on the train. In addition if you have a group of people traveling together you can purchase multiple tickets for that ride on one phone. The app like other commuting apps in Chicago has a system map train schedule and arrival times.

One of the better features is the PCI compliance of the app. For those of us who like a mobile experience knowing that your transaction is secured by the regulatory organization that enhances payment data security it’s very reassuring.

Further plans for expansion have not yet been released but if all goes well like other apps currently available in Chicago you can assume this will be a city-wide option soon.
