THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – TIME FOR ANOTHER CHILL!

This last weekend of April brings a chill to the air after last weekend’s spring-like temps as Chicagoans look to chill out themselves!

The American Cancer Society Walk and Roll returns to Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Drive) in the South Loop on Saturday (8:30 a.m. registration; 10:00 a.m. step-off) to raise awareness for and battle all forms of cancer. This family-friendly Wall & Roll is the American Cancer Society’s oldest event in Illinois with participants choosing a 5K walk a 10K skate or a 15K bike ride along Chicago’s lakefront then enjoying a day of entertainment activities picnics and fun all for a great cause!

Celebrate bacon and battle hunger for the Greater Chicago Food Depository at Baconfest Chicago 2014 this Saturday at the UIC Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Road) in the Little Italy/University Village neighborhood. This year’s event structure will be similar to last year’s with a VIP Hour ($200) and a General Admission ($100) period but with two (lunch/dinner) on Saturday along with a variety of new Bacon-contests and their traditional Amateur Cook-off and Poetry contests! Bacon Bacon I smell Bacon!!

The Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise opens its 2014 season this Saturday and Sunday (10:00 a.m.) as the Chicago’s First Lady sets sail from the Riverside Gardens (112 E. Wacker Drive) in The Loop for a 90-minute cruise showcasing Chicago’s world renowned city architecture and history with class style and comfort! It’s by far one of the best attractions in the City!!

Over 100 exhibitors will be showcasing their impressive collections of antique and estate jewelry Asian antiquities contemporary art fine art sculptures textiles and more at this year’s Chicago International Art Antique & Jewelry Show at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) and wrapping up on Monday (11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.). It’s the only event where one can find rare treasures for purchase!

Also taking place on Saturday at Navy Pier’s Lakeview Terrace is the 7th Annual Pinot Days featuring 65 producers offering over 100 varieties of wine samples. This intimate event is available for public tasting between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. with a VIP early access seminar from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Finally Sunday Family Fundays returns to Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 N. Cannon Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood this Sunday with Spring Into Action from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In celebration of Earth Day (April 22nd) zoo scientists will need your assistance in tracking local wildlife identifying native plants and learning ways to help the planet! It’s a great way to learn and have fun at the same time with hands-on activities games and challenges!!
