TECHNOLOGY TIPS – TIME TO MAKE A COPY

TECHNOLOGY TIPS – TIME TO MAKE A COPY

There is a new player in the world of online (cloud) storage. Most people are familiar with Dropbox as their shared storage for whatever reason – sharing family photos sending larger files etc. The newest service available is called Copy. The service gives new accounts 15GB of free space with the opportunity to gain more storage as it’s shared. If you need to upgrade the amount of space you can get 250GB of storage for $99/year or $9.99/month.

You can access your content from any device – tablet smartphone or computer. You can share specific files or entire folders. The information can also be shared with individuals or publicly. They also have the option to share items as view-only versus syncing the data that can be edited.

Since Copy is new to the storage game they are also offering an additional 5GB for verifying your account and adding the app to your computer. Another appealing aspect to Copy is their concept of Fair Storage. According to the website: "We believe in a simple concept of fairness . . . People sharing content should equally divide the amount of storage being used. With Copy you can split the bill. So a 12 GB folder shared between 3 people only counts as 4 GB per person."

I’m trying this out now and have to admit the idea of shared files being split among all the users is a nice perk. The Quickstart Guide has been very useful so far. Check it out!
