Don’t forget to pack your blanket some snacks and head out to the 13th annual Movies in the Park series! This series is a part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Park initiative which features more than 750 citywide cultural and arts activities during the summer. Spread over 150 citywide parks different movies both current and classic are screened at dusk (weather permitting) for free. This coming Tuesday July 2nd the movie Escape from Planet Earth (PG) will be shown in neighboring River Park. Take part in this annual tradition and enjoy the fun of an outdoor movie.

SOUTH LOOP

Seeking a modern sports bar in the South Loop? Look no further than The Scout Waterhouse and Kitchen (1301 S Wabash). Going beyond the average beer-and-shot spot this pub brings together an intimate dining environment with wide-open spaces. The menu includes sandwiches burgers flatbreads seafood items and more; blending contemporary American fare with classic barfood favorites. It’s late at night and you are in Lakeview but fear not because these three eateries have you covered.

1) Dimo’s Pizza (3463 N Clark) – the pizza at this mini-chain features a New York-style crust but with about 30 different daily rotations of creative topping options. Choose from a traditional Cheese n Pepperoni to a Mac n’ Cheese or BBQ Steak and Fries pizza slices. Single slices or whole pies available.

2) Pick Me Up Cafe (3408 N Clark) – this perky cafe has much more than just coffee. An eclectic menu of appetizers salads entrees sandwiches pizzas and dessert will fill you up just when you need it most. Enjoy the unique layout and ambiance for a perfect late-night conversation.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Every Thursday night a weekly concert is held at Giddings Plaza (4733 N Lincoln Ave) from 6:30pm until 9:00pm during the summer! The lineup of local acts ranges from German pop to R&B jazz to classic rock and everything in between. EVANSTON

A huge announcement has come from the Evanston Public Library. Two bequests totaling $420000 have been recently received by the library from the estates of two former residents. George Ariffe a former professor of English and Allen H. Howard a former professor of psychology have generously named the library as a beneficiary of their estates. These valuable funds will be invested in the library’s endowment to benefit the Evanston community for generations to come allowing the library to invest in key areas of need. The Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons said that the gifts will support professional development of library staff provide funds for programming innovation and help promote the value of literacy for the entire community.
