THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – A WILD “OFFICIAL” CHICAGO SUMMER WEEKEND!

It’s the first day of summer the kids’ are out of school and the Chicago Blackhawks will be hosting the Boston Bruins on Saturday for Game 5 in their quest for the Stanley Cup which can only mean we’re going to have a wild “official” Chicago summer weekend!

Here’s your pre- and post-hockey lineup for the weekend –

The 11th annual Chicago Pride Fest returns to 3700 N. Halsted Street (Halsted Street between Addison and Grace Streets) in the Lakeview neighborhood on Saturday (11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.). It’s a celebration featuring food and drink musical entertainment on two stages and over 60 vendors offering fine arts crafts world market goods and merchandise tailored to the gay community. Sunday brings the Pet Pride Parade (12:30 p.m.) from the stage area where everyone is welcome to bring their dogs cats and other animal kingdom friends to this festive procession. Since its inception this fest has grown in popularity every year!

Chicago celebrates its “green city” status at the Green Music Fest being held at 2000 W. North Avenue (Damen Avenue between North and Schiller Avenues) in the Bucktown neighborhood on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This fest features shopping from eco-friendly vendors educational brochures recycled arts & crafts kids’ activities and live music from a variety of bands!

The 2nd annual Chicago Craft Beer Festival returns to St. Michael’s Church (1633 N. Cleveland Avenue) in the Old Town neighborhood on Saturday (1:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.). It’s a beer connoisseur’s paradise featuring microbrew specialty seasonal and small batch craft beers from more than 100 of these brews in the tasting tents along with some awesome live music performances in the late afternoon and evenings!

Be a part of Chicago’s largest indoor music and art festival at this year’s Artopia Chicago held at the Congress Theater (2135 N. Milwaukee Avenue) in the Logan Square neighborhood on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Art is displayed throughout the theater by over 100 artists showcasing and selling their work as well as featuring live art stations live music performances on the main stage as well as top Chicago DJ’s an outdoor area with many hands on activities and much much more!

Federal Plaza Square (219 S. Dearborn Street – Adams and Dearborn Streets) in the Loop is the place to be for this year’s Thai Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Here’s your chance to indulge in traditional Thai food listen to live Thai music watch Thai dance performances and Muay Thai (kick boxing) and much more! Also features massages and a fashion show!!

Pack up the kids and head on over to Family Day being held every Sunday from 1:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m. through September 1st at the Arlington Park Racecourse (2200 W. Euclid Avenue) in Arlington Heights. It’s a day of horse racing that includes kids’ activities featuring pony rides a petting zoo face painting a caricaturist a bounce house and hands on activities. Plus every Sunday the winning jockeys will be handing out two pairs of signed goggles after every race!

Finally this weekend’s 2013 Chicago Movies in the Parks series features the following movies at dusk weather permitting and free admission!
