The 10th Annual Northwest Irish Parade will step-off at noon on Sunday March 17th from 6633 W Raven. This celebration of heritage family and faith on the Northwest side has continued to see tremendous success and expansion. Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of American Irish and Gaelic traditions the Northwest Side Irish Parade Foundation encourages all Chicagoans both Irish and just Irish-at-heart to come join in the celebration of community.

LAKEVIEW

The Lakeview & Lakeview East Chambers of Commerce have created a new mobile app for both Apple and Android devices. Named "GoLakeview" this app is designed to feature community events and promote local businesses. It’s easy to navigate and has many features to enhance the experience of visitors and local residents.

New restaurant Howells & Hood is set to open this week on the ground floor of the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower. Serving over 114 fresh tap beers high-end burgers and prime New York strip these decadent rich meals blend perfectly with the copper-clad walls and Roman marble. For customers looking to have a high-end meeting the conference room features special glass that frosts over with a touch of a button plus the restaurant will also be in charge of the outdoor party space on the 25th floor. For that next important professional meal this is the destination.

OLD TOWN

Get ready to wet your whistle! The Annual "Oh Danny Boy" Singing Contest at O’Briens Restaurant (1528 N Wells) will be taking place on March 17th. Due to the event’s popularity it is advised to arrive before 5:30pm if you are planning on competing. It is free to participate and prizes will be awarded to three lucky winners. O’Briens has been a part of the Old Town community for over 30 years. If you haven’t taken part in this tradition yet this year would be a good time to start.

EVANSTON

A new full-service Italian restaurant called La Maccina will be going into the long-vacant space in the Hahn Building on Orrington Avenue downtown. Seeking a liquor license for this new eatery they are planning to feature grilled flat-bread sandwiches salads pastas grilled calamari a weekend brunch menu and more. The new owners have also recently opened the coffee roasting business Coffee Speed Shop on Greenleaf Ave.
