THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – A “HIP-HOP” PENING “EGG” STRAVAGANZA WEEKEND!!

Easter weekend has arrived here in Chicago and that can only mean one thing it’s going to be a “hip-hop” pening “egg” stravaganza weekend here in the Chicagoland area so let’s not waste any time!

The Lincoln Park Zoo (200 N. Cannon Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood is hosting their Easter Egg-Stravaganza on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. It all begins with breakfast with the Easter Bunny then on to searching for eggs making crafts feeding the cows or greeting the goat!

The 10pin Bowling Lounge (330 N. State Street) on the Near North Side is hosting their Bowling with the Bunny on Easter Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It’s a special Easter experience when you bowl with the Easter Bunny and enjoy a delectable brunch buffet as well. Even features special candy-flavored Easter cocktails for the adults!

The Bubbles Academy (1504 N. Fremont Street) on the Near North Side is hosting their Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday with two sessions (2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.). Not only is there going to be an egg hunt but also cooking decorating crafts face painting open play refreshments and music at this seasonal event. Fifteen minute portrait sessions are also being offered by Classic Kids Photography but you need to register!

Montrose Harbor (4400 N. Lake Shore Drive) in the Uptown neighborhood is the place to be for this year’s Bunny Rock 5K and Egg Hunt on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. 5K participants will receive a pair of bunny ears sunglasses and a bunny rock dri-fit t-shirt as they run and jam out to 80’s Rock music throughout the course. After the race it’s time for some family fun activities such as a petting zoo and an egg hunt for the kids. Also watch out for the Easter Bunny as he’ll be hopping around taking pictures!

The Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens (1801 S. Indiana Avenue) on the Near South Side is hosting this year’s Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. RSVP is required for this event as kids have the opportunity to search for more than 8000 brightly colored candy-filled and toy plastic eggs with a chance to win prizes as well. Other activities include a visit with the Easter Bunny an animal petting zoo and piñatas with the Glessner House providing fun carnival games for the kids. And of course plenty of special Easter cupcakes and cookies will be available along with candy treats and refreshments!

Plenty of Easter Fun in the Parks takes place on Saturday at these Chicago Park District locations –

Vittum Park (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.); Bosley Park (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.); Mayfair Park (10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.); Berger Park (10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.); Clarendon Park (11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.); Chase Park (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.); McKinley Park (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) and Loyola Park (11:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.)

And finally for those of us who have the furry four-legged type of kids Horner Park (2741 W. Montrose Avenue) in the Old Irving Park neighborhood is hosting their Doggie Egg Hunt on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This 9th annual egg hunt for dogs offers a hunt for treat-filled eggs a free bandana and the popular doggie “Spring bonnet parade.” Don’t forget doggie photos with the Easter Bunny are available for an additional fee at this family-friendly event!
