THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – YOUNG AND OLD ON THE HUNT FOR A GOOD TIME!

Look out this weekend as you’re out and about since both young and old will be out and about as well hunting for a good time as March comes to an end and April begins!

For the young ones this Saturday brings a wide choice of Easter egg hunts in advance of the holiday itself especially for those kids whose parents are unavailable next weekend preparing to host Easter dinner. So be sure to check one of these out –

The 2012 Spring Egg-Stravaganza is back again this year at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Drive) in the South Loop. Festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. at what is billed as the largest free event of its type in the city of Chicago. Over 4000 kids and adults are expected to participate in this 9th annual candy grab (11:00 a.m.) which also features balloon artists face painting inflatable’s for all ages and more family entertainment at this egg hunt!

Fun for all ages can be had at selected Chicago Park District parks throughout the city for a day of fun at their Easter Egg Hunts one of which will be held at the Daley Bicentennial Plaza Park nestled in the heart of Grant Park (337 E. Randolph Street) in The Loop from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with various Easter-related activities!

Bring the family and Hop the Bunny Train to take in the sights of the Chicago French Market (131 N. Clinton Street) on the Near West Side from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a day of fun. The train travels around the market from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with an Easter Egg Hunt at 1:30 p.m. where participants will get the chance to meet a very special guest – the Easter Bunny! Plus the market will be offering market-wide tastings throughout the day!!

Kids of all ages can participate in an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt at this year’s Park Center Eggstravaganza located at the Glenview Park District Park Center (2400 Chestnut Avenue) in Glenview a neighboring suburb of Chicago. If you’re an early riser breakfast with the Easter Bunny is at 8:00 a.m. in the Lakeview Room (registration required) with the egg hunt at 9:30 a.m. The fun continues from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the mini-gym with a Family Carnival!

Indoor and outdoor spring activities for the whole family to enjoy can be had at this year’s Bunny Bash located at the Community Recreation Center (505 N. Springinsguth Road) in Schaumburg another neighboring suburb of Chicago from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Activities include egg hunts photos with the Easter Bunny crafts games concessions moon jumps pony rides and a petting zoo!

Now for my older kids here’s what I’ve got for your hunt this weekend:

The Ninth Annual International Tom Hanks Day at the Fizz Bar & Grill (3220 N. Lincoln Avenue) in the Lakeview neighborhood this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tom’s movie “Big” is this year’s theme with donations benefitting one the actor’s favorite charities “Lifeline Energy.” Tom Hanks Day started back in 2004 with a few Western Michigan University students and continues to be held each year the Saturday before April 1st. No fooling!!

The Chicago Beer Festival takes place at Union Station (225 S. Canal Street) on the Near West Side this Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with two sessions – early session (1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.) and the later session (6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.). This inaugural event features dozens of international and domestic beers along with local and regional entries. Your ticket includes beer samples with food available for purchase!

The Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show takes place at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel (163 E. Walton Place) on the Near North Side this Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Billed as the largest murder mystery dinner show in America this show offers an elegant four course meal an award winning interactive show with comedy and murder!
