THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – THE SPOOKING BEGINS – ALIVE OR DEAD!

This weekend in Chicago many Chicagoans both young and old will be out and about "spooking" things up at various events held throughout the city. But beware not all creatures roaming the streets will be alive!

Since there are many many establishments hosting Halloween parties this weekend here are but a few of them you might find frighteningly interesting –

The 1st annual Bloodsuckers Ball takes place in the Lakeview neighborhood at the Fizz Bar & Grill (3220 N. Lincoln Avenue) in the Pub Theater on the 2nd floor this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. There are two VIP ticket options – a four-hour drink package for $40 or a drink package plus admission to the 8:00 p.m. show of the Halloween-themed "Bye Bye Liver" for $50. Many interactive party games will be featured as well such as bobbing for beers brains-pong an undead dance-off a vampire kissing booth and more. DJ music and prizes for Least Original Costume Most Piercing Scream Most Unsexy Nurse and/or Cop and other activities will be on hand too!

WKQX-FM 101.1 is hosting the annual Halloween party Dead on Division Bash this Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the following six Gold Coast bars: The Original Mother’s The Lodge Bootleggers Mother’s Too Shenannigans and The Hangge-Uppe. These venues will feature jugglers psychics zombies and drink specials. Saturday brings Sherman and Tingle’s live broadcast to The Original Mother’s located at 26 W. Division Street and Sunday brings a performance from the KISS tribute band Kings of the Nighttime World as well as a costume contest hosted by the radio station’s Tim Virgin with a $1000 cash prize!

The Haunted Hotel Ball takes place at the Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe Street) in the Loop this Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. This annual bash features a costume contest with more than $1000 in cash and prizes several DJs and vocalist Mia Martina.

Hollywood’s Dead will be hanging out at The Red Canary (695 N. Milwaukee Avenue) in the River West neighborhood this Saturday from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. as the bar’s staff dresses as celebrities from the 20’s 30’s and 40’s. A costume contest will be featured as well awarding $1000 cash at 1:00 a.m. to the best dead!

Come join necromancer Neil Tobin and the Society of American Magicians this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Excalibur’s (632 N. Dearborn Street) in the River North neighborhood as they attempt to contact Harry Houdini who died on Halloween in 1926 at The Houdini Séance. When you see Harry tell him I say hi!

This Sunday head on over to Halsted Street and Belmont Avenue for the 14th annual North Halsted Street Halloween Parade. This year’s theme is the "Little Street of Horrors" and is emceed by Miss Foozie. If you’re interested in participating in a costume contest for the chance to win prizes (pets are welcome too) then registration begins at 3:30 p.m. at Spin with the parade kicking off at 6:15 p.m. traveling north on Halsted Street from Belmont Avenue to Addison Street.

Finally there’s the RedEye/Metromix Halloween Party this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. at the Lucky Strike Lanes (322 E. Illinois Street) in the Streeterville neighborhood. You could win the $500 grand prize for best costume if you "dress to impress"! So go and impress!!

Not to forget the kids on this special weekend Saturday from Noon to 3:00 p.m. brings the Creatures of the Night to the Garfield Park Conservatory (300 N. Central Park Avenue) in the Garfield Park neighborhood. Learn how nocturnal creatures such as bats owls and spiders move about in the dark.

Also the Chicago Park District will be hosting a variety of Halloween Activities Saturday and Sunday at various parks throughout Chicago such as: Doggie Pupkin Party (Brands Park) Halloween Get-Together (Andersonville Playlot Park c/o Winnemac Park) Pumpkin Patch (Peterson Park) Mania Manor Haunted House (Mann Park) the 11th Annual Halloween Bash! (ages 6-12 – Indian Boundary Park & Cultural Center) and Scary Skate (8 and up – McFetridge Sports Center).

For those with the four-legged furry kids this Saturday brings Happy Howl-o-Ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest to 5100 N. Ravenswood Avenue (Ravenswood and Carmen Avenues). Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with the parade starting at 1:30 p.m. Ben Hollis of "Wild Chicago" will emcee a competition for a $50 grand prize. Three raffle tickets and refreshments are also included.

Wrapping up this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. is Trader Todd’s Halloween Film Screenings in their heated beer garden all decked out for Halloween with the classic horror flicks "Halloween" (1978) and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".
