TECHNOLOGY TIPS – GOOGLE TO OPEN NEW MUSIC STORE

Cathy Mallers PhotoWith its ever popular growth Google recently announced its desire to get into the music store category.

The plan is for Google to capitalize on the Android OS market and take a chunk out of the growing market share of Apple. Apple currently holds 70% of the market with their iTunes digital store. With phones like the Droid X (which I personally just bought and absolutely LOVE) the Android phone market is selling at 200000 per day.

Music labels like the idea of Google creating a more competitive price and feel that Google’s presence can expand their bottom line sales. Currently Google does not have any other announcements other than the desire to get into the music store by Christmas. Negotiations and announcements are expected in the coming months.
