THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – SUMMER PLEASURES IN CHICAGO ARE SURE TO PLEASE!

With that being said your "summer pleasures" this weekend in Chicago await you and yours –

The Taste of Lincoln Avenue in the Sheffield/DePaul neighborhood located at 2400 N. Lincoln Avenue is always a crowd pleaser! Covering six city blocks from Fullerton to Wrightwood Avenues this 27th annual fest features fives stages of local and regional bands performing blues country pop rock and soul music. Not to mention the more than 200 vendors who will be offering food beer art and a wine garden with seating on Lill Street. For the kids’ a carnival will be provided.

The Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival in the Logan Square neighborhood located at 2600 N. Milwaukee Avenue pleases its crowd as area shops set up for sidewalk sales and restaurants set up to serve food along Milwaukee Avenue between California and Kimball Avenues. Three music stages three beer gardens arts and crafts a farmer’s market on Sunday trolley rides and visual and performing arts are featured at this 2nd annual fest plus more.

Swing by the Pop-up Restaurant located at 2333 N. Milwaukee Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood on your way to the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival for some take-along festival food prepared by chefs Bill Kim with Urban Belly and Belly Shack and Jason Hammel with Lula Café and Nightwood. Cash only so swing by the ATM as well!

The Silver Room’s Sound System Block Party takes place this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood located at 1440 N. Milwaukee Avenue. This 8th annual fest is sure to please with its DJs spinning inside the Silver Room as well as on two outdoor stages food and drink vendors fashion shows live mural painting and music kids’ activities a photo booth and much more. Double Door will host an after-party featuring jazz and soul musician Peven Everett from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Celebrate Clark Street Festival will be pleasing crowds at their 5th annual community fest in the Rogers Park neighborhood on Clark Street (6900 N. Clark Street) from Morse to Estes Avenues. World music on two stages along with food beer and wine vendors over 80 market vendors and kids’ activities will be featured.

The Randolph Street Market Festival located in the West Loop neighborhood at 1350 W. Randolph Street between Ada Street and Odgen Avenue is back again this weekend in case you couldn’t make it over the Memorial Day weekend. This European-style fair with themed mini-markets a pet-friendly outdoor market kids’ activities and more is pleasing to both young and old alike.

The Dragon Boat Race for Literacy takes place this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ping Tom Memorial Park (300 W. 19th Street). Decorated boats compete along the south branch of the Chicago River at this 10th annual event which also includes arts and crafts acrobats dancing food music and more.

Bringing up the rear this Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is the Bike Ride to Pierogi Fest. Gather up your bike helmet lock water and snacks then head over to Buckingham Fountain (500 S. Columbus Drive) for your casual 36-mile bike ride to and from downtown Whiting Indiana for their Pierogi Fest an annual dumpling fest! Pace is about 12-14 mph although after eating all those dumplings your pace back to Chicago may be a little slower!
