THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – IT’S HOLIDAY PLEASURE TIME!

Sue MossToday is exactly two weeks until Christmas! There’s still plenty of time to shop and get into the spirit of the Holidays without any stress. For example here are a few "Holiday Pleasures" —

Billed as Chicago’s largest continuously running event the Bucktown Holiday Art Show takes place this weekend at the Holstein Park Fieldhouse. In its 11th year you can browse through gifts and crafts from over 100 local and national artists. Great place to find a gift for that "hard-to-please" or "someone who has everything" type of person! Click here for more information.

Need to spend some quality time with the kids? Then bring them on over to the Lincoln Park Conservatory (2391 N. Stockton Dr.) for their Winter Flower & Train Show. Model trains wind their way through a miniature village featuring some of Chicago’s landmarks and houses. And it’s Free! Click here for more information.

For those men who seem to dodge a bullet — having to Holiday shop with your significant other — Harrigan’s in the Lincoln Park neighborhood will be hosting their 2nd annual Chili Cook-Off and Goose Island Beer Tasting. Calling all amateur chefs this is your big chance to show-off your cooking abilities. Click here for more information.

Cooking not your style? Well how about Northerly Island‘s 5th annual Polar Adventure Days this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s an indoor-outdoor winter celebration packed with a load of activities. Click here for all the details.

And of course for the entire family there’s Brookfield Zoo’s 28th annual Holiday Magic when the zoo decorates with about a million twinkling lights of all colors presents a laser show carolers celebrity storytellers and much much more. Click here for a schedule of this weekend’s special events. Sure to be a family pleaser and future Holiday tradition!

Lastly for the shopaholics Capture the Magic in downtown Naperville about 45 minutes from the Loop. Shop at your national favorites and/or one-of-a-kind boutiques. Have lunch or dinner at one of over 40 restaurants. Lookout though – if you’re caught shopping by an Elf you know one of Santa’s little helpers you will be rewarded with a $25 Downtown Naperville gift card – 5 win everyday! So click here for this weekend’s special events — there’s much more going on!

See? If you choose the right activities then the Holidays are pleasurable!! Just stay away from the overcrowded malls!!!
