KATHY’S HOME & GARDEN TIPS – THE SEASON IS CHANGING

Kathleen Weaver Zech - Dean's Team Director of Buyers Agency ServicesFall is here with winter to follow quickly behind. Here are a few reminders of things to be done before the snow falls.

  • Go through your closets. Put away summer clothes. Check them first are they clean? Do they still fit? This is a good time to pare down those closets. Look at the winter gear. Coats need dry cleaning? Boots and gloves fit and are in good shape?
  • Start the snow blower. Is it running smooth? Even if it sounds good it’s still a good idea to run it in for maintenance. It’s better to take it in now and get it back in a few days. If you wait along with everyone else till the first snow you will be lucky to get it back in a few weeks!
  • I know you all have been keeping an eye on all the gutters and drains around the house keeping them free of leaves and debris. Proper drainage is essential especially with all the rain we have been getting. I’ve cleared the drain by my basement three times in the last week alone.
  • Give the vehicle a good wash and wax before winter. Some of us can afford hand car washes but they never do as good a job as you. While you are at it hose the garage floor too.
  • Trim any visible dead branches on the trees and bushes. These will be more visible with the leaves gone.

Any other ideas for fall? Let me know.
