With the Green Music Fest this weekend we started checking out other carbon-friendly bashes that might be happening here in Chicago.

Carbon Day is a time when all of us look at our carbon footprint and see what we can do to make it smaller. The kick off event leading up to Carbon Day (September 15) will be held next week on August 20th at District Bar 170 W. Ontario.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Lincoln Park’s Carbon Day Festival. To learn more click here.

SOUTH LOOP

When crafting the perfect adult beverage why not ask the pros? Thankfully we have the opportunity to experience many classes throughout the city.

Of particular note Whole Foods in the South Loop at 1101 S. Canal will be featuring Erik Withers. Withers will be showcasing light and summer beers for your enjoyment.

OLD TOWN

Since we’re enjoying a beverage what a great time to get some yummy eats to enjoy with our libations.

Old Town Brasserie recently opened its Brasserie’s Market next door to the delight of many neighborhood fans. If you don’t have the time to have a sit-down meal you can at least take pleasure in tasting their faire on the run.

Local resident Angelo Petitti Sr. was a true scholar when it came to 19th century history books. Upon his return from World War II Mr. Petitti brought home the book bug from a college professor he met while stationed in Belgium.

He was known for his ability to appraise American history books in collectors’ circles and his most prized book was an extremely rare 1812 account of treatises between Native Americans and the US Government.
