TECHNOLOGY TIPS – GOING GREEN WITH WIFI TECHNOLOGY

Cathy Mallers PhotoHow would you like to pay a nominal lifetime fee to use your cell phone as your own personal WiFi spot?

I just came across this service called WalkingHotSpot where you can use your cell phone to access the Internet. The difference is that this service is WiFi that connects your laptop through your cell phone.

Because this service is best used on 3G or higher networks WalkingHotSpot supports HTTPS VPN and other application level security measures to provide stronger security.

The software required for use is Symbian S60 (3rd edition or higher) or Windows Mobile (version 6 or higher) phones with Wi-Fi capability. You can also look at all the phones compatible with this plan here.

I’ve got to head out with my laptop and cell – I get great coverage at the lake!
