The Goddess and Grocer serves up American contemporary food items for breakfast and lunch at their new location in the Lincoln Park neighborhood (2222 N. Elston). Unlike the other two locations in Bucktown and the Gold Coast this establishment will have a small eat-in dining room with seating for 20. Can’t beat the price either under $9! Old Town Brasserie has opened The Brasserie’s Market a European-style market that is geared toward carry-out but nonetheless has 13 tables available until 4:00 p.m. daily if you prefer to eat there. You can also buy or rent baskets fully stocked for any of your upcoming outdoor outings as well as locate some of those hard-to-find specialty items. The Hop Haus located in the Rogers Park neighborhood at 7545 N. Clark Street serves up lunch and dinner daily with a menu that offers mini-burgers made from game meats – ostrich wild boar and kangaroo — just like it’s twin located in the River North neighborhood! Shine located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood (756 W. Webster) serves up traditional Chinese Japanese and Sushi cuisine for lunch dinner and a Sunday brunch. Click here for more details and hours of operation.
The newest place in the South Loop is Italian-focused – Via Ventuno which offers a variety of dishes from throughout Italy by executive chef Jim Kilberg. This is strictly a dinner restaurant which also offers a private dining room for 35 and semi-private dining as well. Click here for more information.
Another dinner-only restaurant and new to town is Sunda located in the River North neighborhood at 110 W. Illinois. Named after the Sunda Shelf a Southeast Asian landmass this restaurant serves up Asian Chinese Japanese Thai Sushi Vietnamese Cambodian Filipino and Indonesian cuisine. Yummy! Luscious Layers Bakery is located in the Bucktown neighborhood at Damen and Webster Avenues. Although it specializes in custom cakes for weddings and birthdays you can still fill your sweet tooth with a cupcake or cookie to go. Click here for more information and hours.
Hoosier Mama Pie Company located at 1618 ½ W. Chicago serves up handmade pies in two sizes or by the slice. There’s also a small selection of mini-quiches scones turnovers and muffins. Click here for hours and prices.
iCream located in the Wicker Park neighborhood at 1537 N. Milwaukee is the spot to go for "customizable" ice cream and other frozen treats not to mention it’s hot pudding for those colder days and nights. Can’t beat this price either at under $9!
