THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – PRE-SUMMER FESTIVALS A MUST!

Sue Moss - General Manager Manager of Unbeatable Service for Dean's Team CHICAGO!Even though the weekend weather might not cooperate fully with tons of sunshine and warmth after this week’s 40 degree drop in temperature from Monday’s 80’s anything above 50 is going to be a pleasure. So I suggest you take it outdoors this weekend before the next 50 degree day hits! Let’s hope it’s not until March of 2009 – we deserve a break here.

Chicago and its surrounding neighborhoods continue on with their pre-summer festivals rain or shine so here are a few for you and your family to enjoy this weekend.

Mayfest – located on Lincoln Avenue between Lawrence and Leland Avenues in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. This German fest is held annually with plenty of oompah bands German food and lager kicking-off with their grand opening on Friday evening featuring an old-fashioned wood-barrel-keg tapping. Do-Division Street Fest & Sidewalk Sale – located on Division between Ashland Avenue & Leavitt Street in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Put on your walking shoes for this 10-block fest to be held Saturday & Sunday which will heat up even more between Damen and Leavitt with food vendors live music kids’ activities and much more. 24th Annual Belmont/Sheffield Music Festival – located at none other than Sheffield and Belmont Avenues in the Lakeview neighborhood. This very popular street fest kicks-off on Saturday and continues on Sunday serving food and beer along with providing local regional and national bands for your entertainment. For you music lovers this weekend is the 24th Annual Chicago Gospel Music Festival being held in Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph Street). This is a three-day festival with over 90 top gospel act performers from around the world. Admission is free. Click here for information on who’s playing when!

Finally for the outdoor enthusiasts who prefer to sweat United Airlines will be hosting this year’s Run for the Zoo on Sunday June 1st at 8:00 a.m. This 5K run/walk or a 10K run benefits the Lincoln Park Zoo both the animals and conservation programs. Oh Buddy wanted me to mention that you humans can dine alfresco with your four-pawed family members at Scoozi! located in the River North neighborhood. Yes there is a canine menu however your pooch must be leashed!
